Description: 1928 Frank Shaughnessy Detroit Tigers professional model road jersey - exceedingly rare one year style. Gray flannel jersey has "Tigers" team name lettered across the front in stylized font. In the collar is a "Horace Partridge" manufacturers label and an embroidered strip tag below reads "Shaughnessy." Use and some general age related wear are evident throughout with a few areas of staining/discoloration which primarily effect the chest and tail. Black trim accents are largely intact with some fraying and loss to one section which runs down the front (beside the buttons). The font was presumably orange and black at the time of issue but has faded to a more muted color. Shaughnessy enjoyed a lengthy career in baseball which began with the Washington Senators (as a player) in 1905. The years which followed included a (19) year stint as Minor League Manager, a season Coaching with the Tigers (1928), and then a lengthy term as President of the International League.
