Lot Number: 171

Description: 1928 "Babe Ruth All America Team World Series" banner. Oversized flag like banner done on cloth which has been hand painted to read, "Winner Camden Courier Post Contest, Babe Ruth All America Team, World Series 1928." The Post was a Southern New Jersey paper to which Ruth lent his famous name in promoting a series of articles and a season long contest with the top prize being a trip to see Babe and the Yankees play in the World Series (possibly used in 1927 as well with a "7" - covered over in white paint - visible below the "8"). Displayed within 42"x74" frame which also houses a sepia toned 8"x10" photo showing both Ruth and the contest winner holding the banner in what is likely Sportsmans Park. Mild general wear includes some vertical folds/creases, wrinkles, and toning/spotting: VG
