Description: 1927 Babe Ruth presentational saxophone from "The King of Jazz" Paul Whiteman. Buescher Tru-Tone saxophone has been prominently engraved, "Paul Whiteman To Babe Ruth 1927" along the interior edge of the bell. It remains in fine overall condition with some light general age and handling related wear and is free of any notable flaws. Ruth can be seen in several period images "playing" what appears to be this same saxophone (a modern print of one which is included shows Lou Gehrig plugging his ears in a nod to Babe's abilities) and is shown in one holding it, inside Yankee Stadium, alongside Whiteman whom had just presented it to him. The instrument was originally gifted by Ruth to a New York hospital administrator whom had assisted in the care of his wife and remained within that family until its initial offering several years ago: EX
