Description: 1935 Babe Ruth -Souvenir of Homage+ presentational display piece (Ruth apartment photo match). Large 16"x20" framed display presented to Babe Ruth upon the completion of his brief tenure with the Boston Braves in 1935. Hand fashioned display features decoupage style applique of floral garniture having a crystallized surface throughout with hand tinted colorization. Top left displays an inset photograph of Babe Ruth with hand stenciled tilting and inscription, "Souvenir of Homage To You: Babe Ruth Mature's Tribute to Baseball and the Greatest One in the World. For your uprightness, zeal, and deep investment toward all. This token of esteem is bestowed and it is offered to you throughout the years to come, may success crown, your every work, and may the choice blessings of happiness and health be ever yours." Signed "A.Mele Boston, Mass. May 1935". The display remains in fine original condition with minimal wear and is housed in its original gilt frame which has a few minor chips to some surface areas. The offered piece was certainly of genuine meaning to Ruth as it was prominently displayed in his New York apartment as evidenced by an included photograph picturing same.
