Description: Mel Ott photograph with assorted vintage letters and ephemera from the Ott Collection c.1930s. Includes 8"x10" sepia toned portrait photo with "Geo. Burke" stamp on the back; 1932 dated letter on "New York Base Ball Club" (Giants) stationary granting permission for Ott to appear in several exhibition games; typewritten statement regarding his retirement from the Giants which appears to have been done in the period; (2) drafts of multi-page typewritten manuscript on baseball by Hans Lobert (one has 1924 date written on the front); 1926 letter from Lapouble Baseball Association of New Orleans asking if Ott will play in their Winter League; 1930 letter on Dayton Baseball Club stationary regarding a promising young ball player; (2) photos (8"x10" and slightly smaller on 8"x10" mount) which show Ott and others standing beside a horse and jockey. Both have period notations from 1931 relaying that "Durva" (horse shown) had won the "Mel Ott Handi Cap."; lengthy typewritten script for a 1936 radio show on which Mrs. Mel Ott appeared; 1948 handwritten letter to Ott from a fan lamenting his retirement and an additional which is typed; 1958 letter on "Little Boys Baseball" stationary regarding an upcoming banquet.
