Lot Number: 369

Description: 1949 Johnny Mize All-Star Game professional model baseball bat autographed by over (175) players. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 36" long and weighs 34.6oz. as issued to the "Big Cat" Johnny Mize for the 1949 All-Star game played at Brooklyn's Ebbets Field. Model #H117 is stamped on the knob end. The bat exhibits evident use including period handle tape, ball marks, rack marks, and cleat marks, none of which detract from the appearance of the signatures. Adorning the bat is a truly remarkable collection of over (175) autographs from numerous star players of the era to include: Ted Williams, Early Wynn, Connie Mack, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Dizzy Dean, Bill Dickey, Bob Feller, Al Simmons, Nelson Fox, Dom DiMaggio, Earle Combs, Johnny Mize, Casey Stengel, Billy Martin, and a very early playing career exemplar of Mickey Mantle indicating that the bat must have been signed over a period of several years in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Signatures range from 3-9 out of 10 with the vast majority remaining nicely preserved rating 7 or better out of 10. Rare and desirable All-Star game bat from a Hall of Fame player contains one of the more substantive groupings of autographs that we have encountered on a single medium. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions (bat) and JSA (autographs): Bat: EX, Signatures: Range VG-NM
