Description:Tim McCarver attributed Philadelphia Phillies professional model batting helmet c.1970-72. Flapless helmet done in Phillies red has a "P" team logo decal applied to the front. On the outer brim is a Dymo label reading "McCarver" and player number "6" is written on a piece of period trainers tape applied to the back. This number was worn by Tim McCarver during his first stint with the Phillies from 1970-72. "American Baseball Cap" label inside notes size (7 1/2). The name "Tim" and his number are written inside in more recent marker and appear to have been done over other notations (one reading "Tim"). It is presumed that the helmet saw additional use after McCarver (possibly at the professional level but more likely by someone who simply needed a helmet to play) and an unknown individual made their own marks. Nice use and some general age related wear are evident throughout. McCarver spent the better parts of (7) seasons with the Phillies helping guide a talented pitching staff from his role behind home plate. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
