Description: Porter "Ankle Ball" Moss Memphis Red Sox photograph (PSA Type I). Attractive 6 3/4"x8 3/4" black and white image showing pitcher Porter Moss posed in Memphis Red Sox uniform. Photo appearance is very good but does have a fair number of surface creases to include two of a heavier nature. Hand identified on the back with some age toning. Moss was an All-Star caliber submarine style pitcher who was tragically murdered at the age of 34 while returning to Memphis from a game. The team bus had broken down so players had to travel via train on which Moss was shot but an intoxicated traveler who was bothering others. Includes letter of provenance from Phil Dixon.
