Description: Scarce 1926 Harrisburg Giants team panoramic photograph. Wonderful original panoramic image that captures they essence of the Negro Leagues at the height of their prominence during the 1920-30s era. This particular image is one of only a scant few known examples and pictures one of the early powerhouse teams of the ECL featuring their player/manager Oscar Charleston who joined the club in 1924. The image pictures the players in full uniform posed on the field with grandstands providing a pleasing backdrop. Players include the aforementioned Charleston,. John Beckwith, Fat Jenkins, Sam Cooper, Rap Dixon, Connie Day, and legendary team owner Col. Stroutner. Image quality is outstanding with uncommonly nice contrast versus other known surviving examples. The photograph has been professionally conserved to address vertical creases from 'scrolling' as commonly seen on panoramic images of this period. The photograph has been laid down on acid free board (reversible if desired) and matted/framed. Several of the heaviest creases have some partial tears all of which have been property conserved and inpainted accordingly. Team name titling in white at bottom center with "Ensminger Studio" photographer's markings at right. 7 1/2"x30" image size. One of the central artifacts within the Dixon collection of notable rarity and substance.
