Description: Remarkable and rare Wilbur 'Bullet' Rogan Philadelphia Royal Giants photograph c.1927. Wonderful 2 3/4'x4 1/2" sepia tone snapshot photograph capturing Hall of Fame pitcher Wilbur "Bullet" Rogan in full pitching pose with wooden grandstands visible in the background. "Giants" across his uniform front indicative of his brief tenure with the Philadelphia Royal Giants during an organized Tour of Japan in 1927. Condition is excellent with small chip at top left corner and vestiges of ink notation at top margin and "Rogan" at bottom. Rogan is universally regarded as one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the Negro Leagues but also an uncommonly strong hitter who played several other positions as well. He was a member of the Championship Kansas City Monarchs teams of the 1920s and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998. Includes letter of provenance from Phil Dixon: VG-EX
