Description:Rare Honus Wagner and Ty Cobb autographed baseball (PSA/DNA 6.5 EX-MT+)(Beckett Authentication). During the first portion of the early 1900s period within Major League Baseball, there were two star players that stood head and shoulders above all. Between the 1900 and 1919 seasons, Honus Wagner and Ty Cobb won a combined total of twenty NL/AL batting championships, respectively. Twenty. Although there were star players before their tenure and certainly after, no two men elevated the status of the game in quite such a manner with special note to doing so in the 'deadball' era. Wagner and Cobb would almost Idyllically wind down their careers just in time to pass the baton to Babe Ruth who of course elevated the game of baseball yet again. Although the two players were clearly each other's statistical rival, they only faced each other in one instance during World Series play with Wagner's Pittsburgh Pirates edging Cobb's Detroit Tigers by a 4-3 tally in the 1909 contest. Perhaps most notably, the two players held each other in very high regard and although fierce competitors, they were friends off the field famously going hunting together in Georgia after the 1909 World Series season. Items with specific relation to these two generational athletes are uniformly coveted with specimens of top quality seldom offered. Presented is a rare and exceptional baseball having been autographed by Honus Wagner and Ty Cobb. Very lightly toned cream color Wilson American Association baseball signed across the sweet spot, "J.Honus Wagner Pirates" with the adjacent top panel autographed, "Ty Cobb 8/6/46". Wagner's signature in blue ink rates a solid 7 out of 10 (PSA/DNA grade 6) with Cobb's penned in black ink at a similar strength of 6.5 to 7 (PSA/DNA grade 6). Unused baseball serves as a worthy canvas for the two great's signatures with even light coloring and only a few very minor surface blemishes. This superb example is the first of it's type that we have handled or encountered in our 36 year company history and worthy of the highest consideration as a special documentative artifact of the game's greatest stars from the Dead Ball era. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA (Ball: 7, Wagner: 6, Cobb: 6, Overall: 6.5) and full LOA from Beckett Authentication: Ball : EX/MT-NM, Signatures: EX/MT-NM
