Fox was renowned as a powerful hitter, exceptional runner, and one of the great long distance throwers of the 19th century. He was a key figure on the 1867 Nationals team whom are regarded as pioneers of the early game and one of the most influential of the period. They would help to popularized baseball in the United States embarking on the first barnstorming tours introducing high level play to new audiences. Counted among their roster were George Wright and Asa Brainard who would go on the play with the first professional team in history, the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings. In fine overall condition with a hint of light natural age and there are a few very small scattered surface indentations.
