Description:Willie Mays autographed 1989 World Series Game #4 Ceremonial First pitch attributed baseball (The Earthquake Series). Rawlings Official 1989 World Series logo baseball is believed to be the one which Willie Mays threw on October 28, 1989 prior to the start of Game (4) played at Candlestick Park. The Series was a "Battle of the Bay" featuring cross town rivals the Athletics and Giants. It proved one of the more memorable in recent history, not for the play on the field, but for what interrupted it; an earthquake which struck just prior to the start of Game (3). The ball bears a pair of older handwritten notations reading "10/28/89" and "10/28/89 Earthquake" with additional line below not fully readable but it appears to say "(ball)." Mays later signed the ball a total of (3) times (once inscribed "S.F." and again with "1989 S.F.") in ink rating 8 out of 10. Mild toning throughout. The Athletics would sweep the Giants in (4) games to capture their first World Series Championship in (15) years. Includes auction LOA from JSA and certificate of provenance from the Willie Mays Collection: EX
