Description:Jack Dempsey attributed boxing gloves c.1920s. Pair of Sol Levinson brand boxing gloves are said to have long been displayed in the Hotel Thomas which stood in Chicago Heights, Illinois. They are believed to have been gifted by the former Champion to the proprietors with whom he had a relationship. They recently came to market as part of a Thomas relative estate sale. Although our consignor was not able to acquire them, there were additional Dempsey related pieces and images of some have been secured. Included is a modern printout of an image believed to likewise have be part of the display of a Dempsey signed photograph inscribed "To My Little Friend Jack Thomas." An additional printout shows a postcard sent to Agness Thomas (dated 1946), also signed by Dempsey. Gloves are well worn with flaking and drying to the surface due to age. Each has a "Sol Levinson" tag on the outer wrist, a maker known to have made gloves for professional use. While only attributed, the surrounding documentation helps to substantiate that these gloves once belonged to one of the greats of boxing history: GD-VG
