Description:Very fine 1978 Rocky Bleier professional model Pittsburgh Steelers game worn jersey (Super Bowl championship season, Art Rooney II signed letter & MeiGray photomatch). White jersey with black and yellow sleeve accent stripes has number "20" on the front, back, and shoulders. A "BLEIER" nameplate is on the back. Medalist Sand-Knit "Designed & Tailored Exclusively…" tag is on the front tail with an additional below noting size (46). Printed "78" year tag is to one side. Strong use and wash wear are evident throughout including multiple team repairs. MeiGray photomatched the jersey to their 12/16/1978 game vs Broncos (2-receptions for 9-yards plus 11-yards rushing). In addition, it is accompanied by a letter signed by Art Rooney II confirming it was used, and stating that it long resided in the Steelers equipment repository. Bleier's story is the stuff of legend, having been drafted into service following his rookie season. He returned from Vietnam wounded and unable to walk, told that his days playing football were over. Not one to relent, he regained his abilities and would go on the become one of the most popular members of the 1970s Steelers dynasty. He would play on all (4) of their Steel Curtain era Super Bowl Championship teams. Includes photomatch documentation from MeiGray in addition to the LOA signed by Rooney: EX
