Description: 1945 Charley Trippi "Most Valuable Player, University of Georgia" trophy. Large presentational trophy awarded to Charlie Trippi for his efforts during the Georgia Bulldogs 1945 season. The following year he would piece together one of the most celebrated collegiate football seasons of the decade and then embark on a Hall of Fame caliber professional career. The piece stands just over 20" tall with a handled trophy cup atop wooden plinth with a descriptive placard affixed to the front. Text reads, "The Wm. K. Jenkins Trophy Awarded To Charles Trippi, Most Valuable Player, University of Georgia, 1945." A pair of winged figurals decorate either side. Base measures 12.5"x7.75". Scattered surface wear with some chipping/cracking to right edge. Mild tarnish. It is possible/likely that an additional piece is missing from the top: VGEstimated Price Range: ($500-$1,000)
