Very significant series of original telegrams as sent during a flurry of activity on June 21, 1950 to secure the contract of Willie Mays from the Birmingham Black Barons to the San Francisco Giants. Content includes: 1) Telegram from Giants President Horace Stoneham to Black Barons owner Tom Hays confirming offer and acceptance of $10,000 for Mays contract to be assigned to Minneapolis affiliate of the Giants; 2) Telegram from Tom Hays of the Black Barons accepting the offer from Giants President Horace Stoneham; 3) Two telegrams as sent to the Office of the Baseball Commissioner memorializing the agreement between the Giants and the Black Barons for Mays' contractual rights.
