Description: 1967 Willie Mays California Newsboy Foundation award plaque (Mays Collection Photomatch). Large 15" tall walnut wooden plaque given to Mays by the California Newspaper Boy Foundation for "Sincere and Continuing Support of Constructive Youth Programs". Engraved brass placard to Mays on front with figural brass newspaper boy finial on a pedestal at bottom. Minor surface wear. 12" tall. The award was presented to Mays by then California Governor Ronald Reagan as memorialized in an accompanying modern print of the image. Includes two 12/8/1966 related typewritten letters regarding the award and certificate of provenance from the Willie Mays Collection: EX-MTEstimated Price Range: ($750-$1,500)
