Description: 1966 Willie Mays Baseball Player of the 20th Century Ty Cobb Award (Mays Collection Photomatch). Large figural award as presented to Mays by the prestigious Atlanta Braves 400 Club in 1966 naming Mays as the Baseball Player of the 20th Century. The trophy features a two tiered arrangement with silverplated batter finials and decorative eagles alongside of two handled trophy cup. Walnut wooden base has engraved silverplated placard affixed with Mays name and award titling. Very fine overall condition with only minor general age wear. The award appeared to be a particular favorite of Mays with prominent placement in his trophy displays over a number of years. Includes certificate of provenance from the Willie Mays Collection and a vintage color Kodak image of Mays standing alongside of the offered trophy: NMEstimated Price Range: ($5,000-$10,000)
