Description:1966 Willie Mays 534th Home Run presentational display (Mays Collection photo match). Large and ornate presentational display given to Willie Mays in celebration of his historic 534th career home run tying Jimmie Foxx in 1966. The display was a gift of Louis Lewyn and commissioned by Stan Musial on behalf of President Lyndon B.Johnson and the San Francisco Giants both of which are memorialized on engraved brass placards. General display consists of wooden backboard that showcases two Willie Mays Adirondack model baseball bats fat left and right borders. Selection of ten baseballs are mounted throughout the display many of which having been signed by San Francisco Giants teammates and one with Mays on the sweet spot. Central baseball is inscribed to Mays from his friend and fellow All-Star Stan Musial who was also related to the presentation itself. Additional decorative placards with Babe Ruth and Willie Mays affixed to the bottom along with inscribed brass plate denoting the All Time Home Run kings in the AL and NL as of 1966. Additional Willie Mays Adirondack bat is suspended from the main display by a chain link as added later by Mays having inscribed brass placard affixed to the front "To Commemorate the 600th Home Run of Willie Mays". General light to moderate age/handling wear is evident including a few loose brass decor items. The award occupied a prominent space within the Mays home and later offices for many years as an important testimonial to the milestone home run that placed him at the pinnacle of National League home run hitters.
