Description: Remarkable Willie Mays All-Star Barnstorming Team photograph by Ernest Withers c.1955 (PSA/DNA Type I). Very rare original black and white 8"x10" image picturing the All-Star team led by Willie Mays that barnstormed across the Sun Belt portion of the country playing semi pro and former Negro League teams. The roster of the All-Star team is recognized as one of the greatest barnstorming teams in the history of baseball to include Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe, Ernie Banks, Larry Doby, Monte Irvin, and Jim Gilliam. The image presents with excellent eye appeal having some minor surface wrinkling to the corners and a few areas of the front. Back is stamped by noted African American photographer Ernest Withers of Memphis, TN. Outstanding rarity with unimprovable direct provenance from the team's primary member.
