Lot Number: 72
Description:Scarce 1895 Baltimore Orioles "Two-Time Champions" celluloid team composite medallion. Commemorative piece done in honor of the 1895 Baltimore Orioles who repeated their success of the season before winning a second consecutive National League title. While similar in style to the similar piece issued the year before, the 1895 version is far less frequently offered and this is the first we can recall handling. Portrait images appear on one side and include Hall of Famers Ned Hanlon, John McGraw, Joe Kelley, "Wee Willie" Keeler, Hughie Jennings and Wilbert Robinson. The opposite reads "Baltimore Base Ball Club, Two-Time Champions, 1894 1895." Just below is a "Torsch & Lee" mark. The piece (1.75" across) remains in outstanding overall condition with some light toning and all player images are clear and well defined. It hangs from the original orange and black ribbon with bar style broach pin at the top (note - ribbon has some fraying/breaks and is presently held together at top by a small safety pin): Medallion strong EX/MT, Ribbon see description
