Lot Number: 65

Description: Choice Stan Musial professional model baseball bat c.1961-63: Outstanding provenance (PSA/DNA GU 9.5). Adirondack 302 model bat with Musial last name block lettered in the barrel measures 34.5" long and weighs 31.3oz. Model number "57B" is factory stamped in the knob. Nice use is evident throughout with a number of ball and stitch marks visible in the barrel which has grain swelling due to repeated contact. There are also some cleat marks and a handle crack has been professionally repaired. The bat was obtained by Rudolph Belavic, a Forbes Field usher and will be accompanied by a Spalding W.Giles ONL ball which is signed "To Rudy, Best Wishes, Stan Musial" on the side panel in ink (7/8 out of 10). The year "1963" is written on in unknown hand and there is clear use. While this does not definitively pinpoint the season in which Musial handed him the bat, it certainly suggests it to be likely. Musial was in the twilight of his Hall of Fame career and the 1963 season would be his last. He retired as one of the Cardinals all-time greats and is universally revered by baseball fans as a whole. The offered game bat, with its' fantastic and well documented provenance, is one of the finest of its type to have entered the hobby. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions and PSA/DNA (GU 9.5) along with a letter of provenance from the family: EX
