Lot Number: 106

Description: Very rare 1916 Detroit Tigers team signed baseball. Exceedingly scarce ball is among the earlier which we have handled and related to one of the most storied teams of the era. Red and blue stitched Reach B. Johnson Official American League baseball offers ideal display qualities with Ty Cobb, Sam Crawford, and Hugh Jennings appearing on the same panel. These three fortunately remain among the stronger with regard to condition rating approx. 6-6/7 out of 10 (Crawford a touch stronger). The included documentation from PSA/DNA states that there are (22) signatures in total and portions have all but faded from view while others fall in the 3 to 5/-6 range. Per their letter (combined with our own assessment), these additional signers include fellow Hall of Famer Harry Heilmann, Bobby Veach, George Burns, Donnie Bush, Billy Sullivan, and Jean Duboc. The ball displays even toning/discoloration with scattered wear and faded but discernable stampings. A very desirable early team ball featuring some of the most noted players of the deadball era. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA: GD
