Description: 1986 Bill Walton Boston Celtics NBA Championship ring. (Walton's Second NBA Championship)(NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award Season)(Walton Collection Photomatch). Even foes of the Boston Celtics would recognize that between the 1950-60s era the Celtics embodied the very meaning of "champion". Red Auerbach crafted a culture of success within the Boston Celtics organization spanning four decades that remains unmatched by any professional sports organization. During that period the Celtics won a startling 15 NBA championships. The 1986 championship over the Houston Rockets signified the 16th and final title for Auerbach's Celtics with that particular team considered among the best in the history of the game. Presented is Bill Walton's 1986 Boston Celtics NBA Championship ring. Ring displays the iconic Celtics clover of a green enamelwork inset onto gold field with rendering of the NBA championship trophy. Trophy decor features a group of smaller inset diamonds on the body with a larger diamond solitaire at top of approx. .55 total carat weight. "Boston Celtics World Champions" lettering encircling the top of the ring. One side panel displays "Walton" above Celtics' mascot with "16 Championships" titling. Other side panel had 1986 date with NBA insignia set within a green enamelwork field and "Teamwork" motto beneath. Marked "LGB 14K' on the interior ring band. Size is 13.5 with a weight of 1.4 oz. Included is the original glass lidded wooden ring box with applied brass placard titled "Bill Walton" on top of the lid. Additionally included is a framed color photograph of Walton receiving the offered ring during ceremonies at the Boston Garden. The "Teamwork" titling is particularly appropriate for the 1986 Celtics who simply grinded out wins with a workmanlike effort behind Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parrish, and a gritty performance by veteran center Bill Walton earning him NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors. One of the most coveted NBA championship rings of the modern era with scant few having entered the marketplace since their issue in 1986. Includes certificate of provenance from Walton Family: NM
