Lot Number: 163

Description: Grateful Dead and crew autographed stage used drum head inscribed to Bill Walton. Remo "Weather King" drumhead is well used and was presented to Bill Walton by the Grateful Dead. It has been signed throughout by The Dead and a number of their very well known crew members including Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Brent Myland, Danny Rifkin (Manager), Kidd Candelario (longtime crew member and roadie), Harry Popick (stage monitor engineer), Ram Rod Shurtliff (long time roadie and crew chief), Dan Healey (audio engineer), Robbie Taylor (production Manager), Joe Thomas (crew member), and John Mcentire (Manager). Marker signatures rate 7-8/9 out of 10. Housed in a tasteful 16.5"x16.5" shadowbox as displayed in the Walton home. Walton's ties to the noted band are legendary and after attending his first show in 1971 he became a prominent fixture on their circuit and would go to hundreds in all (upwards of 850 by his own account). His close personal friendships with Jerry Garcia and Company are well known. Substantive pieces of this nature should be considered extremely rare and there are relatively few known in comparison to more commonly seen (albeit still scarce) band signed photographs, programs, and other flat items. One of the premier music related pieces within the Walton Collection and one which presented to him by the band themselves. Includes full LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the Walton Family: Overall EX
