Description: Superb Bill Russell autographed Boston Celtics professional model jersey c.1950-60s. Classic white jersey proudly displaying "Celtics" team name across the front in kelly green along with "6" beneath and on the back. Proper Wilson manufacturer's label remains affixed to the tail front with "46" size flag tag and additional small flag tag with no visible printing due to wear. The jersey exhibits very fine evident use throughout including two small team repairs to the peak of shoulder straps, perspiration soiling, and what appears to be a few small blood spot stains on the back. Additional wear including a few tiny holes and some loose interior threads found at the bottom of the tail area and noted for accuracy. Signed across the front in black sharpie, "Bill Russell Game Used". Bill Russell ranks among the most significant professional athletes in the history of American sports and stands as generational figure in the field of Civil Rights. Scant few Russell game worn Celtics jerseys have entered the marketplace with the offered example noted as one of only two originating from the personal collection of Bill Russell. Additionally, to the best of our knowledge there are only three Russell game jerseys (including this example) which have been autographed and two noted as "game used" via inscription. With fair deference to the Russell 1969 NBA Finals jersey which achieved a record price in the first portion of the Russell Collection auction the offered shirt rightfully takes its place as one of the finest ever to have been publicly offered.
