Lot Number: 462

Description: 1972 Steve Carlton autographed professional model glove inscribed "27 Game Winner" from his best season in baseball. Important glove, with impeccable provenance, from what ranks as Carlton's finest season posting a 27-10 record, 1.97 ERA, and (310) strikeouts to earn the National League Cy Young Award. It was the last season in which an N.L. pitcher won (25) or more games; a record which seems unlikely to be broken in the foreseeable future. MacGregor model "KCX" right handed glove has player number "32" written on in black marker on opposite sides. In addition, there is a vintage "27 Game Winner" marker notation and a more recent "Steve Carlton 72 Cy Young G.U." inscribed autograph (8-8/9 out of 10). In fine overall condition with manufacturers tag removed (as done in the period) and strong evident usage wear. Includes (2) signed letters of provenance from Steve Carlton, auction LOA from JSA, and LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
