Description: Outstanding Brooks Robinson autographed Baltimore Orioles professional model batting helmet c.1966. Classic black helmet with orange brim has the Orioles famed Bird logo painted/screened on front and orange circle accent on top. Player number "5" has been hand painted onto the back in period orange over white paint. In addition, the number "5" is scratched into the brim which has a hole drilled in to facilitate hanging in the dugout (this number would then be visible when the helmet was hung as the larger 5 on back would not). "American Baseball Cap" label inside notes size ("7 1/4") and there is a "Pro-Celd" label below. All interior padding appears largely intact. Signed under the brim "Brooks Robinson" in silver marker rating 8-8/9 out of 10. Well preserved with appropriate usage wear evident throughout. Included copy of a handwritten note signed by Robinson relays, "This batting helmet approx 1966 was used by myself during my playing day. I personally scratched the #5 on the outside of the bill." An exceptional piece from one of the Orioles All-Time greats dating to the era of their first World Series Championship.
