Description: "Laughing" Larry Doyle professional model baseball bat c.1911-16. Substantial J.F. Hillerich & Son Co. Louisville Slugger dash-dot-dash model bat measures 33 1/2" long and weighs 43oz. with "DOYLE" stamped in block lettering on knob end. Vault marked model number D17 stamped on both knob and barrel ends, "DOYLE" block letter stamping is impressed on reverse side of bat. Incredible usage wear throughput includes handle tape residue, deadwood area on back with vintage finish nail repairs, and factory side writing which has faded from age. Remnants of the original paper shipping label remain on the barrel although illegible. Doyle played for (14) years primarily for the New York Giants leading the league in batting for 1915. Very early documented game bat from a fine early 20th century player. Includes LOA from SCD Authentic D.Bushing/D.Knoll and letter of provenance from the Hillerich & Bradsby Co: VG
