Unique lot of (3) 1954 Wilson Franks glass plate negatives. Each of these 20"x24" clear glass plate photographic negatives features all (20) cards from the 1954 Wilson Franks series. Two of the plates show the cards in black and white prior to the addition of the players facsimile signatures. Both have moderate and minor surface chipping with the Williams card affected on one in particular. The third plate shows the cards with facsimile signatures added by means of a thin cellophane coating adhered to the glass. This cellophane coating has chipped and peeled back in many areas having obscured the images of more than half the cards incl. Williams. There is some paper residue on one of the plates from being formerly adhered to a matte. Interesting and certainly rare components of the production process of one of the scarcest and sought after card issues of the 1950's: Range GD-VG/EX |
