The official Super Bowl XLII logo appears on one side in gold with pertinent game information burned into the leather on an opposing panel including the teams, location “Arizona” and date "January 18, 2008". The letter "K" (denoting exclusive kicking football) is stamped on one side of the Wilson logo with the number “1” written in black ink on the other side. Additional notation “MC” is written on the point of one end of the ball in ink. Exhibits usage wear. This historic game saw one of the greatest upsets in Super Bowl history as the 12 point underdog Giants defeated the Patriots by the score of 17-14, thus ending their would-be perfect season. This is the actual commemorative coin used for the opening coin toss of the 2007 Super Bowl XLII game played on February 3, 2008 between the New York Giants and New England Patriots. The silverplate coin features 24k gold highlights including a Giants and Patriots helmet on one side and the official Super Bowl XLII logo on the opposite side. The coin is numbered “00001”, noting it as being the first of 10,000 similar coins that were minted. This coin was used in the historic game that saw one of the greatest upsets in Super Bowl history as the 12 point underdog Giants defeated the Patriots by the score of 17-14, thus ending their would-be perfect season. The coin comes in a custom felt case from the Highland Mint and is accompanied by COAs from the Highland Mint and the NFL. |
