| Description: Rare football advertising broadside c.1890-1900. Substantive and unique original poster was issued to promote a football game between the "Deaf Mutes" and Akron teams. Sizeable 26"x40" framed poster features a wonderful color lithographic player at the left side holding a melon style football in a union suit uniform. Marked "Werner Akron, OH" at lower left. Poster has some lightly visible fold lines with a few areas of minor inpainting to a crease and a few small surface imperfections. 19th century football display pieces of this type are virtually non existent with the offered exemplar among the finest we have encountered: EX-MT (With note to aforementioned condition exceptions) |
