Description: Fred Haney's folk art baseball bench c.1940. Fine quality folk art bench is comprised of (20) bats and (11) baseballs. The arms and sides are structured from the following Louisville Slugger commemorative black bats: 1957 Braves World Champions (2), 1940 NL All-Star (2), 1940 AL All-Star, 1939 Reds NL Champions (2) and 1939 Yankees World Champions. The bottom front of the bench features two Fred Haney model Louisville Slugger black bats. The back of the bench includes the following Louisville Slugger player model bats each separated by a baseball: Roy Cullenbine, Myril Hoag, Don Heffner, Rip Radcliff, Chet Laabs (block letter), George McQuinn, Bernie Berardino, Walter Judnick, Harland Clift and Bob Swift (block letter). A few autographs are present on some of the baseballs including Fred Haney, Roger Peckinpaugh and Joe McCarthy. The 39"x50"" bench is sturdily constructed and well preserved. Accompanying the bench is a copy of a 1950's magazine article that includes a picture of Haney seated on this bench in his home next to a large trophy he received for winning the 1957 National League pennant.
