| Description: Early soft-shell leather football helmet c.1900. One of the earliest soft-shell styles weÆve seen has no visible manufacturerÆs markings. Its design includes a simple skull cap top with four tabs, much like a four spoke helmet, in which the ears are applied, as well as the back piece, and small 1" front piece, through which the exposed elastic band runs.
