Description: Joe DiMaggio's traveling equipment trunk c.1940s. Original steamer style trunk used by DiMaggio during the 1940s retains in its original green paint and "J.DiMaggio" hand painted lettering at the bottom of one end panel. The trunk was made by the Priesmey & Bros. Trunk Co. in St. Louis, MO and retains its original brass manufacturer's label on the end panel. Overall size is 27" tall, 23" wide, and 43" long with interior drawer section on one side and hanging garment panel on the other. One end panel has several period address labels affixed or attached including The Madison Hotel and Railways Express. The exterior lock is present and complete but had to be removed in order to open the trunk. Several pieces of vintage Yankees equipment along with other DiMaggio related items were found inside the trunk including the Yankee duffle bag, papers, jewelry, two Yankees undershirts (see previous lots), and several pairs of athletic socks likely worn by Joe DiMaggio while with the Yankees. The socks will be included with the trunk along with a small photo of Joe's family at one of his early baseball games in Yankee Stadium which was found in the top drawer.
