Description: Extraordinarily scarce Nile Kinnick auto. govt. postcard. Postmarked Oct. 5, 1939 and signed in bold black ink, "Best Wishes Nile Kinnick". Signature rates 9 out of 10 with a small inset image of Kinnick attached to the card. Kinnick won the 1939 Heisman Trophy award and in his acceptance speech humbly recognized the growing World conflict in Europe and indicated how fortunate Americans were to be fighting for Heisman Trophies and not Iron Cross medals. Ironically, in 1943 Kinnick was serving as a pilot on an aircraft carrier when his plane crashed into the sea and was never recovered.
