| Description: Jan. 8, 1934 Typed letter from Clark Griffith to Sam Rice along with Player Release. Very poignant letter regarding Rice's release from the Washington club that he had given 18 years of service to including Griffith's "blessing" to deal with other teams. Boldly signed by Griffith in black ink and accompanied by the Player release notice which is also signed by Griffith: EX-EX/MT. Clark Griffith drew much criticism about this move and more specifically the manner in which it was handled given the excellence and loyalty that Rice had given to the Senators. |
