Lot Number: 319

Description: Rare Louisville Slugger store display bat rack c.1950s. Scarce period piece as issued by the famed bat maker is one of only a handful of examples known to have survived. Done on brightly colored heavy cardboard stock, it stands approx. 48" tall with space to hold a dozen bats. These are supported by a column decorated with H&B endorsee facsimile signatures and there are a pair of matching die-cut batter figures at top. The rack retains exceptional display qualities with some general light scattered wear and a few heavier creases/wrinkles. Some heavier creases near the very top appear to break the cardboard surface (some more severely than others) and each of the die-cuts has reinforcement (or fix) added on the back. The sections are joined to each other on the back by cloth/conservators and other types of tape. While these flaws are all worthy of mention, it should be noted that none have overwhelming effect on overall eye appeal. The first such piece we have offered at auction in over a decade: EX
