Description: Late 1920s Billy Evans handwritten and signed opinion statement. Fine content statement as handwritten by the Hall of Fame Umpire has been signed "Billy Evans" at the close. Text reads in part, "The real angle involved in the play to my way of thinking is purely one of sportsmanship. While one team can lay claim to a technical forfeit...it is my thought when the beaten team agreed to the the original lineup, it really forfeited that right..." All is done in pencil rating 7 to 7/8 out of 10. Likely done in response to an Athletics team protest/inquiry, it appears on the back of a sheet of team stationary (this bears a secreterially signed 1927 dated Connie Mack letter). Fold lines and a touch of other mild wear. Includes auction LOA from JSA: EX
