Description: Important 1934 Eric McNair Tour of Japan professional model jersey. Gray flannel jersey with red, white, and blue decorative trim has the "All Americans" patch on left front chest and player number "1" on back. On the left sleeve is a "US" patch and on the right, a patriotic shield. Spalding tag appears in the collar beside "D E McNair" embroidered player name. In fine overall condition with expected usage and wash wear, a handful of small moth holes, and some very light scattered staining. To date, the U.S. All-Star Tour of Japan remains one of the more notable and significant events in baseball history. The occurence of the Tour in the midst of the inception of World War II along with the participation of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and other elite star players from the era has created an insatiable demand for related artifacts. To the best of our knowledge, the offered jersey numbers as one of four surviving exemplars (Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Jimmie Foxx are the others). A magnificent and rare all original jersey as relates to this watershed moment in baseball's history. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
