Description: Extremely rare Zach Wheat professional model baseball bat c.1921-23. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with Wheat facsimile signature burned into the barrel measures 34" long and weighs 37.6oz. Strong usage wear can be found throughout the hitting surface which has grain swelling due to repeated contact. A severe handle crack has been repaired with a number of period nails. The bat was returned to the Louisville Slugger factory as a template for future orders and portions of the original mailing label and stamps remain affixed. It was then factory side written in grease pencil and while most of the text has now faded a 1923 date is readily visible. Of considerable rarity, there have been a scant few Wheat game bats to surface and this is the first from the Hall of Famer which we have ever offered.
