Description: Highly significant 2001 Tony Gwynn Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award by Tiffany & Co. Tony Gwynn exemplified all that was good within the game of baseball during the entirety of his 20 year career Major League Baseball career. Universally respected by teammates and opponents alike, Gwynn played the game with an acumen previously unequalled within the game. Accompanied by an off the field persona worthy of his status as an ambassador for the game Gwynn earned a reputation as one of the most giving and charitable figures during his career with the San Diego Padres. As such, during the 2001 MLB All-Star Game Gwynn was bestowed with the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award in recognition of his historic career. The striking award stands 11" tall with a cylindrical pillar supporting a gold plated sterling silver baseball inscribed to Gwynn by Commissioner Bud Selig along with titling, "Tony Gwynn Eight National League Batting Titles, San Diego Padres, 1982-2001". Both the trophy base and the baseball finial are impressed with proper Tiffany & Co. sterling silver hallmarks. Overall condition is very fine with some minimal wear to a few areas.
