Description: Rare Spalding "Play Ball!" die-cut 3D advertising display c.1940s. Choice period store display being one of most appealing we seen from the era stands just under (2) feet tall and measures approx. 19" across. "Play Ball!" titling at top ends in die-cut lettering with the slogan "It Pays To Play with Spalding Official Equipment" noted below. An arrow at right side points down to an "Official National League Ball." The lower portion, all shown from the bat and batters hands down, is done on another die-cut piece which is affixed but extends out from the backing. The ONL Ford Frick ball is likewise affixed to lower portion but extends out further when set for display. These piece are held in place by flaps in the material and all stands upright via the original easle backing. There is a touch of light edge wear throughout which is slightly more accentuated on the die-cut portions. The bat end and "L!" at top have creased and are now reenforced and/or held in place by wooden sticks applied to the back. A striking a highly visual piece of noted rarity: EX
