Description: 1927 Tris Speaker signed letter in response to support during game fixing scandal. Significant letter typed on his personal stationary has been signed "Tris Speaker" in period fountain pen rating 8 out of 10. Text relates to support offered when he was implicated in a game fixing scandal with Ty Cobb. The letter reads in full, "Wish to thank you for your letter expressing confidence and faith in me, and to assure you that every step will be taken to vindicate me." Letter has some mild to moderate areas of discoloration and additional wear. It has been professionally removed from a scrapbook page where it resided for decades. Both Speaker's Hall of Fame career and steadfast character remain unblemished with Commissioner K.M. Lamdis dismissing all accuastions at a hearing on this ill fated incident.
