Description: 1977 George Foster "Mel Ott Memorial Award" from home run Championship. Significant presentational piece has been bestowed by the National League on their leading home run hitter annually since 1959. Wooden frame has silver edge interior portion which is lined in blue felt. A medallion mounted within hosts a relief of Ott that is captioned, "Mel Ott Memorial Award Home Run Championship National League." Below is an engraved Sterling silver placard reading "George Arthur Foster, Cincinnati Reds, 52 Homes (sic) Runs 1977." Touch of light wear throughout with (2) small spots of loss within felt. Foster's performance that year marked the first time a player hit (50) home runs since Willie Mays in 1965 and it would not happen again until Cecil Fielder accomplished the feat in 1990.
