Description: Significant Johnny Bench game used bat from July 26, 1970 Three Home Run Game (NL MVP, NL Championship Season). Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 35 1/2" long and weighs 31.8oz. Showing exceptional use including ball marks, stitching impressions, pine tar residue, and light grain swelling. Model number B278 stamped on knob end along with vintage "5" written in black marker also found on end on barrel as well. The offered bat was used in one of the finest offensive performances of Bench's Hall of Fame career on July 26, 1970. During a game played at Riverfront Stadium between the Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds hammered the Cardinals by a final score of 12 to 5 behind Bench's offensive explosion. Johnny Bench went 4 for 5 with three home runs and seven RBI's. If that were not impressive enough the three home runs were hit off of Cardinals ace Steve Carlton. Vintage black marker inscription of the game statistics were written by Bench on the barrel of the bat. Absolutely superb Johnny Bench game used bat with career significance that is very likely the finest of its type to have entered the marketplace. **NOTE: The offered baseball bat may be autographed by Johnny Bench if the winning bidder wishes to do so but was preserved in its original state for its initial presentation at auction.
