Lot Number: 140

Description: Unique Babe Ruth, Kennesaw Mountain Landis, et all autographed album page. Dated 1921 and 1922 respectively in Landis' and Ruth's hand signed unlined album page. Ruth signature presents beautifully in bold black fountain pen across the bottom. Very rare full name, "George H. Babe Ruth Oct. 13th, 1922" rating 9 out of 10. Landis has signed above with a date of July 12, 1921 rating 7/8 out of 10. The presence of Ruth and Landis signatures on a singular object is of noted scarcity. The relationship between the game's greatest star player and the staunch Commissioner of Baseball was, at best, contentious at times inclusive of several noted confrontations and subsequent suspensions. It is reasonable to deduce that these very factors may in fact contribute to the rarity of items which have been signed by these two extremely significant figures within the history of the game. Reverse is additionally signed by several notables including Jackie Cooper, Jackie Coogan, and Mitzi Green with General Leonard Wood above Landis. The lot also includes Jim Bready's original receipt for the purchase of the piece from Walter Benjamin autographs for $20 as well as the original catalogue listing and (2) original photographs of St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys. Includes auction LOA from JSA: Range EX-NM (Ruth signature rates NM)
