Description: Important 1924 Negro League World Series "Opening Game" panoramic photograph. Historic image as taken on October 11, 1924 in Kansas City showing the hometown Monarchs and rival Hilldale Daisies just prior to Game (5) of the Inaugural Negro League World Series. Captioning at top reads in part, "First Colored World Series Opening Game...at Kansas City" and players/personnel are identified below their respective likenesses. Amongst those shown are a host of notables including (8) future Hall of Fame Inductees: players Jose Mendez, Bullet Rogan, Judy Johnson, Biz Mackey, and Luis Santop and League/team Officials Rube Foster, J.L. Wilkenson, and Alex Pompez. The best of nine game Series was ultimately won by Kansas City having been played in (4) different venues across just as many states with Game (5) being the first (thus "Opening") in Kansas City. Photograph offers exceptional display qualities with crisp clarity to visible area which measures approx. 6.5"x35" and shows mild even toning and several light/moderate vertical creases (resulting from decades of rolled storage); the most severe of which appears near dead center. The photo has been professionally cleaned and mounted to backing (archival level of standards) with some additional wear/chipping below matting. Framed to 14.5"x42.5" overall. Of noteworthy historical import and one of a select few copies to have surfaced, originating from property of participating player Newt Joseph: Displays EX-EX/MT
