Lot Number: 336

Description: Important May 15, 1973 Nolan Ryan autographed No-Hitter game ball. Historically significant game ball as retained by catcher Jeff Torborg following Nolan Ryan's first No-Hitter in Kansas City vs. the Royals. After a trade from the Mets brought Ryan to California for the 1972 season the hard throwing righty flourished with what resulted being one of the most inspiring pitching careers in baseball history. Among the many records and achievements tallied throughout (4) decades of play perhaps the most incredible are his (7) No-Hitters; one of the few achievements across the spectrum of sports which not likely to ever be surpassed. Reach J.Cronin Official American League baseball has been signed across the sweetspot, "Nolan Ryan" in period ink rating 7-7/8 out of 10 (touch of fading to start of first name). Vintage notations, done in the hand of Jeff Torborg who caught the game, adorn two panels reading "No-Hit Game Angels - 3 Royals - 0" and "Nolan Ryan's 1st May 15, 1973." Expected soiling and usage wear evident throughout. Includes auction LOA from JSA (auto): Ball EX, Sig. EX-EX/MT
